Polykovichi’s krynitsa is a holy spring near Mogilev and a natural monument of the republican significance.

The spring is known from the distant 1552. The very first owner of the spring was Stanislav Kezgailo - Mogilev headman. The spring became the center of the spiritual life for the inhabitants of many settlements. The power of the miracle spring attracted mainly the female half of the population. The healing properties of the water have been understood since those distant times, Polykovichi’s krynitsa helped to cure infertility. It was believed that if you walk 100 versts to krynitsa and plunge into the spring, the disease will pass. It was also considered very useful to drink this medicinal water.

Since the 19th century the spring has belonged to Count Rimsky-Korsakov. During the ownership of the estate, the count built a stone grotto over the spring and built a chapel nearby, which he named in honor of St. Paraskeva-Friday. Everyone came to the spring on the eighth and tenth Friday after the Orthodox church holiday of Holy Easter, it was on these days when miraculous properties were attributed to the water from krynitsa. These days were later called Polykovichi’s Fridays, on which a service, a prayer service and a procession were held. Later, the Holy relics of Paraskeva, ranked among the Saints, were delivered to the chapel from Athos. For her faith in Christ, the daughter of rich parents was brought to court to the manager, who offered to marry her on condition that she abandoned her faith in Christ, but Paraskeva did not agree, and it was decided to cut her head off.

Paraskeva Friday is the keeper of the hearth. Every year, on the fourteenth of November, a church holiday is celebrated in her honor.

The chapel was built in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Paraskeva in 1892. Since 1990 the reconstruction of the chapel and the construction of the Paraskeva Friday Temple has began. And in 2000, on the day of remembrance of the Holy Fathers of the Ecumenical Council, on May 29, the chapel was consecrated by Archbishop Maxim of Mogilev and Mstislav. The construction of the temple was carried out at the expense of the German family of Alla and Dieter Arnold, Alla was from Polykovichi.
