St. Nicholas Monastery is one of the main Orthodox centres of Mogilev and Mogilev region. One of the buildings of the monastery complex-St. Nicholas Cathedral built in 1669-1672 – is included by UNESCO in the register of the most valuable buildings in Europe in the Baroque style. The complex also includes the Onufrievsky Church of 1798, a bell tower and a church house for pilgrims. During the Soviet period, highly artistic frescoes were wiped off with cement mortar. Miraculously, only the central iconostasis of St. Nicholas Cathedral survived. It is worth seeing with your own eyes. |
