Byalynitsky-Biruli’s Museum

In the May days of 1780, an official meeting of Catherine the Second with Emperor Joseph II of Austria was held here, who stayed in this house since it was one of the most luxurious buildings of that time. For more than a century (1815-1917) it served as the venue for the meeting of Mogilev deputies of the nobility. After the revolution, in 1918, the building was taken over by the main city library named after K. Marx. The period of World War II affected the building, which was partially destroyed. In the 1970s the mansion was restored, the third floor and roof were built. The architecture is designed in the Baroque style.

In 1982, the premises were occupied by the department of the National Art Museum, when the museum named after the artist started its functioning. A two-storey mansion with an attic, an architectural monument of the 17th century, has been in need of repair for a long time. After the renovation the museum acquired not only a new life, a new flavor, but also a new format. The first floor was given over to replacement exhibitions. On the second floor you can see the paintings by Byalynitsky-Biruli.
