The Drama Theatre

From the governor's box of this theater, Emperor Nicholas II himself admired the acting of the actors during his stay in the tsar's headquarters in Mogilev. Today the Mogilev Drama Theater is one of the most famous sights of the city. The building, built in 1886-1888 in the neo-Russian style of red brick, is located in the historical center of the city, on Theater Square. The Drama Theater Hall is a smaller copy of the Warsaw Maly Theatre, decorated with carved wood, stucco and velvet. You should pay attention to the main chandelier of the theater - it weighs more than two tons and lights up with three hundred light bulbs. At the entrance of the theater you will be met by the sculpture “A lady with a Dog” – the twin sister of the Minsk sculpture by Vladimir Zhbanov, installed next to the Komarovsky market.
